Mystical
Path 5. Individual Discipline and Will
An
experienced racer whether human, thoroughbred, or
two children competing to reach a point that they
define first, know that there must be enough energy
to finish the race. A competitor manages energy to
win. Spirit Expressing is neither a race or a game
where one person wins. Spirit Expressing is a
journey and while we are fast approaching our
meeting on Path 7, the material and energy shared at
our gatherings are only a drop in the ocean of what
is available to help each of us.
While we have become more aware of
the resources for us to research, we already know
that when you begin to seek, many doors open. Do too
many open? The balance of material to study and
contemplate vs. living and practicing what we learn
is an individual decision. Spirit Expressing
suggests 7 Paths - not 70 or 700 but 7. Then
Spirit Expressing suggests we further study one
primary and one or two supporting paths that
align with our true selves. Simplify is what seems
to be coming through.
We have been expanding the idea of
becoming one with the God in us, in all of us and in
everything. Path 5 is a natural extension of the
energy we focus on becoming one with God. Since as
we have learned God is perfect love, then it is
impossible for perfect love to live opposite of
perfect love. However it is possible and we often
experience living opposite or distant from Love.
Since our human form comes with an ego and the ego
sometimes wins and we find ourselves off track we
have learned that the Law of Forgiveness and the
associated energy of release was gifted to us for
those times when we are not one with God.
Devoting energy to anything including
becoming one with God means there needs to be an
definition of the intended outcome. So in Path 5 we
learn of the importance of intention and discipline.
While the format of each session is
the same, the content is never the same. What we are
finding as we progress is our spiritual energy is
building. We are also discovering the reality of
life that even in a relatively small group that
appears to be very diverse, there is a strong sense
of oneness. You are invited to work with us in
person or in spirit. It is never to late to join one
of our meetings. They are held every Thursday
evening at 7PM. I am sure our host will love it if
you show up. For more information
Click Here to Send Us An
Email and we will give you the
details.
As a reminder for everyone, the more
work you do, the more you will benefit. Having said
that we have one member in our group who is taking
the effortless route. She is teaching us that all
things are possible as her energy is building with
all of us effortlessly. As you know, each person
individually should review this website, the books
for Spirit Expressing, and workbook for this
series in advance of each week's session.
Greeting and Meditative Prayer- a meditative prayer
is shared with the purpose of focusing the
participants on the topics for the session. If you
are following this program in spirit on line, we
recommend you begin each session of your work, like
we do with a meditative prayer. Meditation is
designed to strengthen our connection to God. We are
petitioning the Divine Guidance in ourselves to
strengthen the pipeline to our connection with
God.

Each Week One Of The
Following 7 (or 8) Questions Will Be Discussed:
Do you know what you
believe?
Do you know why you believe that?
Do you understand that what you do
affects others and yourself?
Do you recognize you always have
choices?
What do you feel you need to make a
choice about?
What makes something spiritually
meaningful?
Who is God to you?
When did you become aware of God in
your life?
The Question That We Will Discuss
At The Path 5 Group Meeting Is:
Do You Know What You Believe?
The Path 5 Poem:
The Mystic of the Week is Rumi
(1207-1273). Rumi is considered one of the greatest
poets known to history. Some say Rumi gifted an
enormous treasure of writing as a result of his
teacher Shams disappearing and the intense desire
that created with Rumi to reunite with Shams. That
is a role of a Master, to create an intense desire
for union with the Beloved - and when the union
happens, an atomic mystical power is released that
can be directed toward humanity.
"The Way Wings
Should"
What will our children do in the morning?
Will they wake with their hearts wanting to play
the way wings should?
Will they have dreamed the needed flights
and gathered the strength from the planets
that all men and women need to balance
the wonder charms of the earth
so that her power and beauty
does not make us forget our own?
I know all about the ways of the heart -
how it wants to be alive
Love so needs to love that it will endure almost
anything,
even abuse
just to flicker for a moment
but the sky's mouth is kind
its song will never hurt you, for I sing those words
What will our children do in the morning
if they do not see us fly?
-------Rumi
Path 5 Exercise:
Ponder this poem for a day
- every day for the week. Note what it means to you
and note your thoughts. Those meeting in a group
will share what they are moved to share about those
thoughts.
Mystical Path 5
Individual Discipline and Will
Chakra Five:
Sound, Creative identity, oriented to
self-expression
This is the chakra located in the throat and is thus
related to communication and creativity. Here we
experience the world symbolically through vibration,
such as the vibration of sound representing language
Consider the idea of not needing any rules, not
needing to discipline your behavior, not needing the
will to act. Why do we feel we need the guidance
systems for our lives anyway? One argument is that
it brings order. I accept the benefit of traffic
signals at intersections as they can help minimize
congestion. Is there a possibility of traffic
without traffic signals? Yes, but for now I advocate
leaving them there since we have more fundamental
opportunities for growth without focusing on traffic
without traffic signals.
Do we need commandment that tells us to honor God?
Do we need a commandment and a law that says don't
steal, or hurt someone else? We do and we don't. I
don't need the bible or the laws we have on the
books to tell me about a behavior that is not good
for society. I already know it. Did you ever wonder
why we regulate alcohol but don't regulate fats and
sugars that are actually more addictive than alcohol
or cocaine? Of course I don't believe anything that
we as individuals can do in the privacy of our lives
without offending anyone else should be regulated. I
also don't believe society should pay the bill for a
person who abuses drugs. I also don't believe
society should pay the bill for people who abuse
food.
Now this material and the lessons from these Paths
is not what about what I believe. These comments are
meant to encourage you to think about what it means
to live your life on purpose; to live your life with
integrity; to live your life as the God within you
guides you to live. Joan Borysenko references the
belief of the extremists who believe a path of
suicidal destruction is the direct road to God. Of
course I recognize that this belief system is part
of our world. We read direct evidence of that daily
and experienced it first hand in this country with
the destruction of the magnificent World Trade
Center along with 3,000 people who were just there
to do their jobs. I also believe we are all
connected and by improving who we are and sending
the right message into the ethers we make progress
in helping others find the God within themselves -
the God that guides us to constructive behavior
rather than destructive behavior. And least we judge
the abhorrent behavior of others, I suggest we look
within for opportunities to be more Godlike. Jesus
Christ came to show us what is possible. He
demonstrated by example what it meant to live as
love. He did not need the commandments and laws to
show him how to live. Neither do we. Go deep and
follow the God that is Source of your being. I
believe when we consistently succeed in living as
love then we will experience love, harmony,
integrity, vibrant energy all the time.
Nearly every Sunday at the First Unity of St.
Petersburg, Rev. Temple Hayes says "God Is Good -
All The Time" ALL THE TIME - not just at our
convenience when we regret a behavior, action or
words that we were part of, but ALL THE TIME. There
is no need for the energy of regret, remorse and
release if we follow the path of God within us, ALL
THE TIME. We are created knowing what to do.
We are also blessed with the force called ego. And
the winner is - God or ego? It is our choice.
